A leaking roof, crumbling foundation or broken furnace can jeopardize a homeowner’s ability to stay in their community. Many cannot perform or afford a repair on their own.
The average cost of a home repair project is $20,000—completed at no cost to the homeowner thanks to our generous supporters. Veterans, senior citizens and families that earn up to 80% of the Area Median Income benefit from this program.
Habitat Philadelphia has completed more than 1,000 home repairs in Philadelphia neighborhoods such as Belmont, Mantua, Sharswood, Strawberry Mansion, Kensington and Grays Ferry.
Health and Home Repairs
Health starts in the home. Poor home conditions—such as lead and mold exposure, water leakage and bad air quality—are directly tied to residents’ poor health outcomes.
Habitat Philadelphia has placed renewed emphasis on improving health through housing as we expand our home repair program in extent and scope. In fiscal year 2025, our team completed a record 150 home repairs, bringing the all-time total to more than 1,100. Now, we’re introducing health assessments for every repair we perform to better understand the holistic impact of home repairs for homeowners.
