“In that service to others we may find that coming together in friendship, building up community, we too can find true meaning in our lives.” — Pope Leo XIV

Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is proud to introduce the Pope Leo Village campaignThanks to an anonymous donor inspired by Pope Leo XIV’x commitment to justice and service, this interfaith, multi-city movement will unite people of all identities and backgrounds to build 26 new homes for families in Philadelphia.

The Pope Leo Village is you—youth groups, faith communities, students, friends, and neighbors joining side by side to do essential work, crafting safe and welcoming homes where families can grow and thrive.

What is Pope Leo Village?

Pope Leo Village is rooted in the Sharswood neighborhood of Lower North Philadelphia, where Habitat invests in long-term neighborhood stability and opportunity. This initiative reflects Habitat’s mission to serve communities that have been historically under-resourced while engaging volunteer groups in meaningful, hands-on service—honoring the organization’s foundation in volunteerism.

Across Habitat affiliates, Pope Leo Villages offer a shared invitation to unity and progress through a common set of values: dignity, justice, and the belief that safe, affordable housing is both a human right and a shared responsibility.

We Build More Together

Through Pope Leo Village, thousands of donors across the country are putting their faith into action by supporting the creation of Pope Leo Village communities in their own cities. Here in Philadelphia, we’re off to a strong start—but there’s more to do. Our goal is to fully fund and build 26 homes, and we can’t do it without you.

By coming together through this collective effort, we create meaningful, large-scale impact. Affordable housing is the foundation for healthy families, stable foundations, and thriving futures. Together, we build a stronger Philadelphia.
