Acquisition, Design, and Project Predevelopment Lunch and Learn

Each month, volunteers and other guests will have the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look into the varied ways Habitat for Humanity is working to address the need for affordable housing in Philadelphia. In April, we will be learning about this vital step in the homebuilding process from Habitat’s very own Director of Project Planning, Ed McColly. We will dive more deeply into what predevelopment looks like for a typical project, from acquiring land to leveraging funds to project design and finally to construction.

Virtual Bingo for Homes

Join us virtually for an afternoon of Bingo with your friends  from the comfort of your own home! This 2-hour event will give you the chance to win an assortment of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia goodies including Habitat Philadelphia ReStore gift cards, a volunteer opportunity to build your own step stool to give to a Habitat Homeowner, and a free Move for Homes registration! ($100 registration fee waived!)

Women Build Volunteer Lunch and Learn

Each month, volunteers and other guests will have the opportunity for a behind-the-scenes look into the varied ways Habitat for Humanity is working to address the need for affordable housing in Philadelphia. This month, coinciding with International Women Build Week, this Lunch and Learn will feature a discussion lead by Executive Director of the Sharswood Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC), Darnetta Arce, and Habitat Philadelphia Community Coordinator, Tia Abdulhadi. These women leaders will talk about the ways Sharswood residents have worked alongside Habitat Philadelphia to build and revitalize.

Move for Homes Volunteer Lunch and Learn

This month, we will be learning from longtime volunteer Sally Poliwoda about our annual bike and movement fundraiser, Move for Homes (formerly Ride for Homes).

MLK Day Conversation: Race, Housing, and Health

In conjunction with the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service, join PolicyLink Senior Associate James Crowder and Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia CEO Corinne O’Connell for a discussion on race, housing and health in Philadelphia. Crowder’s recently published report, The Case for Housing Justice in Philadelphia, examines the drivers of housing insecurity for low income people of color in the city. James and Corinne will also respond to audience questions.
